Today 7-11 was giving away Slurpees for FREE. I had one! Mountain Dew Slurpee. I got hyper. Then I ate f00d and lost all the sugar and caffeine from that. Now I'm not hyper. (much.)|
Changing the world?
Not bad! But not as good as the last one.
Oh, I forgot to answer this question awhile back.
It's a soda. It's a 0-calorie cola made by the Coca Cola company. It was invented IIRC in the 60's as a response to the dieting craze. Originally, it had one calorie. It remained a very popular "diet" beverage during the 60s and 70s and even into the 80s. It started to lose popularity as more varietys of diet drinks hit the market, in fact from my recollection TaB started declining about the same time Diet Dr. Pepper started getting popular, but that could just be coincidence (altho my mom used to drink TaB, and now she drinks Diet Dr. Pepper.)
Anyway, round about the mid 80's or so, it became evident that the only people still drinking TaB were the people who LIKED it. So, when all the new artificial sweeteners (aspartame etc) came out, all the other names almost immediately switched. Because of the warning that one had to put on anything sweetened with saccharin: Warning: Saccharin has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals. (for more on saccharin and possible dangers, check Wiki, I'm no expert ;D )
TaB was one of the last brands to use exclusively saccharin as the sweetener. Because they knew the taste was what was keeping it around. It currently has on the label "calcium saccharin", which I have no idea what that is, but also "aspartame", which is the last ingredient listed (and thus the least amount). I have no idea if this is significant, but the taste has not changed enough for me to notice. It is the only beverage with Aspartame that doesn't taste "funny" to me. It's not particularly sweet, but it's got a hint of cinammon amongst the cola flavor, and I think that's what makes it the awesome. Especially for a "diet" soda.
But nobody drinks TaB for the diet properties anymore. Those of us who drink TaB? We LOVE TaB. As for me? I also love Hamada ;D
