Food experiment [Mar. 3rd, 2008|07:04 am]
Previous Entry Share Next Entry

I like to share when I do a food experiment.

This is actually from the other day. I made this:

Here's what was in it before I ate most of it: 1 bell pepper, 3/4 gouya (I ate the other 1/4), 1 jalapeno pepper, half a red onion, and a packet of katsuo.

Then I put that in tortillas and put a little bit of mozarella cheez on it. I called 'em "weird fajitas", but my friend Brian says I should have called them Vegetas. Then I realized that I no longer own any DBZ because I threw out all my VHS tapes.
OK, so here's how you make that food, in case you also think that Gouya and Jalapenos together is going to taste awesome, BECAUSE IT DOES.
Take those ingredients there, and stir-fry 'em in a pan like you see there. Then put some in a warm tortilla. And put garnish on if you want it. I didn't buy any tomatoes or cilantro so I didn't have any pico-de-gallo but it's probably good with that. It's also probably good if you add tofu in it or something, but then you can expect to make more fajitas. This made 4.
I'm not a good cook.
I'm not insanedrop trou!

Oooh. Is gouya = bitter gourd? We call it ampalaya here, so I dunno. IT IS ALSO GOOD WITH EGGS! (which is the only way I can eat it)

... That looks good, though. May I try it (one day~)? :3

IT IS BITTER GOURD!! It's my favorite food IN THE WORLD, so I'm glad to know it's called ampalaya so that if I see it on a menu I'll know!! Eggs is one of the ingredients commonly used in one of my favorite bitter gourd dishes, but I usually skip the eggs because ... I don't keep eggs around ;D

You can try some! But, the bitter gourd will be bitter.... ♥

Fuhaha, I actually know what gouya is! Is katsuo a typo for ketchup or is it another mysterious thing altogether?

I'll bet you anything I'm a worse cook than you. The last time I cooked dinner I did simple oven-baked chicken and I ended up burning one side and undercooking the other. YAY.

Gouya = bitter melon, in shops around here anyway. Katsuo!! You have to go to the asian market to get it, but I took a picture:

It's dried bonito flakes. Bonito is some kind of fish. I forgot what, though. Anyway, they ... dry and flake it. I don't know enough about cooking to know what it's comparable to ^^;; But when you buy it, you can almost see this in the picture, you buy a package of packets. Anyway , that's too much information... it's f00d! I swear! XD

I think baking food is more difficult than finding some food you like and throwing it on a skillet to stir-fry, so yeah... chicken sounds difficult XD
