| Reason to hate FUNimation #388

OK, I got another Lupin DVD yesterday. It was a tv-movie. And I thought it was going to have that great dub job that I'm used to from the tv series DVDs. But no! It's a funi dub! And it sucks some serious ass! Who's playing Fujiko? The chick who played Marlene in Blue Gender. It was absolutely terrible. Not to mention all the other voices. Hello, you're supposed to be ACTING, geniuses!|
It was so bad I'll never be able to watch the English track again. I'm so very grateful for the (Pioneer?) dub. They did a great job of making the characters, and matching the voices almost exactly. I was overwhelmed when I first saw it with how great they matched the Japanese cast. They kept in the bad langauge but have a sensitivity for the difference in magnitude of foul words between Japanese and English cultures.
It was an OK movie, the Funi one. But the dub sucked so bad it was distracting.
Do you know, I lived in Japan during the exact years that there wasn't a Lupin tv show (in the 70s). I wonder if my parents would have let me watch it if it had been on when we were there. I'm so proud to be a child of the 70s.
OK, at the end of episode 1 of Lupin III (2nd series, you know, the licensed one), they are stranded on a raft, and someone has run up a pair of boxers as a flag/sail. I wonder who's going commando. Well, we know it isn't Goemon, he wears that samurai sumo thong thing. Goemon's thong is canon! W00t! Anyway, back to my point, either Lupin or Jigen is commando on that raft. Yeah, baby!
