Reacquainting with odd pairings [Jan. 29th, 2010|12:11 am]
Previous Entry Share Next Entry

SO, I might be going to Japan this summer. Maybe. If I don't get downsized.

Those of you who have been recently, do you know anything about a town/region called Tama? Do they still have a cool zoo? We used to sing a song about the Tama Zoo when we were kids, aaaalllll the way from wherever we were at to the Tama Zoo. I'm sure my mom loved us for it.

So I was reacquainting myself with fanarts, specifically searching for Atobe/Ryouma, which is one of the pairings I listed as "guilty pleasure" on one of those pairings memes, but I found BETTAR THINGS. Atobe/Akaya! Why did I never think of this before? That same site also has Krauser/Akaya, which is really nice, too. They luv Akaya, and so do I. Also they had Sengoku/Akaya, which IS something I've thought about many times. The site is l-b2 if you decide to try to find it.

Sometimes it's comforting to see that the Japanese fansites have just as much OOC-ness as the English fanworks. But sometimes they do a really nice job of IC-ness! I found a good meme.

1. Pick a pairing that you write, or draw, or just love to pieces and make up stories in your head about
2. Answer the questions as if you are that couple, sitting with an interviewer (completely confidential!)

Here's an example from the site I copied this from:
30. What one word can your partner say that makes you weak?
A: More. Please. Give it to me. [translated]
N: Atobe wtf!! >(
A: What, I'm not gonna make something up.
N: ...... ¬¬ I like when he uses my first name after asking for something.

I will pick a couple and fill out answers soon. These are translated and sometimes the Japanese use an English word in a way that vexes me, so there may be some weird things.

According to "Hanaichimonme", Atobe didn't dislike Akaya because he reminded him of Hiyoshi. :D

That's so cool that you are going to Japan! What places do you plan/want to visit aside from the Tama Zoo (I don't know about it, sorry!).

What do you mean with "if you don't get downsized"? /random English fail moment.

Downsized is becoming unemployed through no fault of your own. I don't know a good way to explain it, because there's a difference in getting fired, which is when you perform poorly or do something bad. Downsized = laid off, you didn't do anything bad, but the company needs to be paying less people, so someone has to go. I think Hamada's biographer dancing megane chick (in Oofuri) used the word risutora = restructuring, but in my company restructuring = less employees. Not just moving some offices to another city. SO, it's not having a job, but it's not getting fired. But if I say "laid off", that also probably sounds weird since "getting laid" = having sex; "getting laid off" = losing your job. wtf euphemisms.

I'm not sure where I'm going yet. I'm not even sure where to stay. Well, I have to go to the Pokemon Center, without fail! Also, hopefully we can go to a music festival. I'm considering Rock in Japan fest, but that also might be overwhelming.

Oh, that's more or less the idea I had! Downsized = the company needs to reduce the "size" of their employees' number.

I always thought that "risutora" was just that, getting rid of some employees because there's no place for them anymore among them, due to some company absorption by another, or just financial problems.

I hope you don't, though!

Woah, I wish I could have done more fun things while I was there, but it is difficult to find places and activities you feel brave to go to when you are on your own...
